WRITE TO MIATTA BEFORE 23:59 on FRIDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER

Sep 15, 2026 | Politics, SEA LINK DCO

If you oppose Sea Link, please respond to the Secretary of State’s request for further information by email to SouthEastAngliaLink@planninginspectorate.gov.uk before the 23:59 deadline this Friday, 18 September.

We have prepared two template letters to help you write to Miatta Fahnbulleh, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Choose a template
Both raise concerns about the cost, need and value for money of Sea Link, following Ofgem’s assessment of the project at approximately £3.2 billion and the recent National Audit Office report on whether the Great Grid Upgrade is value for money (See Section 2 below)

Template 1 HERE focuses specifically on Sea Link and the cheaper, potentially faster alternative identified by SEAS, based on upgrading existing transmission infrastructure.

Template 2 HERE also raises concerns about LionLink, including its potential impact on consumers and the need for its economic case to be independently reassessed against current evidence.

Please choose whichever template best reflects your own concerns. We strongly encourage you to personalise the letter in your own words, particularly by adding a few sentences explaining why these projects matter to you, your family, your community or the Suffolk coast.

The more individual letters Miatta receives, the stronger the message will be: before billions of pounds of consumers’ money are committed, the cheaper and less damaging alternatives must be properly considered.
